First Friday Success Stories: Raving Software

This is an ongoing installment of First Friday Success Stories. On the first Friday of every month, we will feature an area business that has worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) counselor housed at the AAEDC office in Annapolis. The SBDC counselor is on hand to assist local entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses.

Raving Software is unique in its passion for providing superior website and IT design services for its clients.  Its founder, Barbara Heinlein, is a retired Air Force Officer whose entire career is in Information Technology and Communications.  After retiring from the Air Force, Barbara spent several years in Federal Information Technology before deciding to chart her own course.  Raving Software is a software services company that specialize in custom design, Content Management Systems (CMO), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services, and maintenance of websites. The company also provides internet marketing services including social media, logo and branding as well as other services such as IT consulting, hosting, copywriting, and domain registration. Raving Software is focused on building superior client relationships, efficient and effect software development lifecycle processes and methodologies, and delivering high-quality products and services. Barbara Heinlein first met Candace Pruett, SBDC consultant, at the Anne Arundel Community College Business Plan Competition in April 2017. Barbara was a top 10 finalist who made her pitch regarding her newly launched company, Raving Software to the judges. She was awarded funds and space at the Anne Arundel Community College Hatchery for her business.

Raving Software met with SBDC to discuss their business and strategic plans for operation and growth. Candace Pruett, Raving Software’s SBDC consultant, assisted with the business planning process including an operating agreement and marketing tactics. Barbara stated, “Candace is simply amazing!  She’s made all the difference for Raving Software in our transition to the next level of success.” Candace also assisted in reviewing the operating agreement and navigating the government contracting process.

Raving Software currently has one full-time and two part-time employees. The company obtained their EDWOSB, WOSB and in the process of obtaining their SDVOSB certification.  Raving Software continues to work with the SBDC as they continue to grow and expand in the Maryland area. Raving Software is a member of the Pasadena Business Association.
