AAEDC celebrates growth, diversity during Business Appreciation Week
The article reported that nearly 60 ambassadors including County Executive Steuart Pittman, AAEDC staff, and officials from 17 county organizations visited a total of 77 businesses during the week, October 21-25, 2024, with each visit including informal discussions about the business and county resources available to support its growth, followed by the presentation of a formal citation from County Executive Pittman.
It featured the following commentary from County Executive Pittman: “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. Business Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize their contributions to our communities and thank them for choosing to call Anne Arundel County their home.”
The article noted that the 77 businesses represented a true cross-section of Anne Arundel County’s 61,000 total businesses, ranging from newly established ventures to a 111-year-old company; including 23 minority-owned, 36 women-owned, and five Veteran-owned; and they collectively employing approximately 4,689 people.
It concluded by reporting that at the conclusion of Business Appreciation Week AAEDC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (MDHCC) to officially solidify their partnership and reinforce AAEDC’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to business resources for traditionally underserved communities.
The Business Monthly accompanied the article with a photo of AAEDC President & CEO Amy Gowan and MDHCC President Marco Avila signing the MOU.
