Greetings, members of and supporters of the Anne Arundel County agricultural community!
I hope you’ve had a great summer and am excited to let you know about some of the things that have made it such a busy one at Arundel Ag!
On August 6, we hosted our A Taste of Arundel Grown event at Homestead Gardens. Nearly 250 people attended the event where local farmers, food producers, and Bread & Butter Kitchen chef Monica Alvarado came together to showcase the best of our county’s homegrown flavors. It’s a celebration of our agricultural roots and the delicious bounty they produce. The event supports our Agricultural Business Improvement Grant (ABIG) Program, which offers matching grants to support agricultural projects that help farms expand or improve their businesses. The event also allowed us to donate a portion of the proceeds to the CAT North Chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA) to help its members further their agriculture education.

A Taste of Arundel Grown also included the debut of the latest edition of our Arundel Grown Agriculture Guide: your go-to resource for finding local farms, farm stands, farmers markets, wineries and breweries, and ag-related activities and experiences in Anne Arundel County. Whether you’re looking for fresh produce, flowers, or family-friendly farm fun, the guide connects you directly to our ag community.
Speaking of debuts, our signature Ag event also featured the introduction of our newest initiative in support of ag education: Aggy the Farm Owl, our brand-new Arundel Ag mascot! Aggy will be visiting community events throughout Anne Arundel County this fall, helping grow the next generation’s appreciation for and interest in farming by teaching youth about agriculture and where their food comes from. Aggy was proud to participate in the Young Farmers of Anne Arundel County’s Blessing of the Harvesters on August 23, and he’s looking forward to attending the Anne Arundel County Fair in a few weeks.

As summer nears its end, we hope you’ll follow our Arundel Ag Facebook page to see the latest updates and stay rooted in Anne Arundel’s vibrant agricultural community.
As always don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to talk about how AAEDC and Arundel Ag can help your farm thrive!
Until next time,
