This is an ongoing installment of First Friday Success Stories. On the first Friday of every month, we will feature an area business that has worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) counselor housed at the AAEDC office in Annapolis. The SBDC counselor is on hand to assist local entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses.

Prior to opening his business, Robert Tjaden, owner and founder of Tjaden Design Associates, first started to attend SBDC workshops such as Ready, Set Go and Smart Start Your Business 101 in June 2016. In March 2017, he began to work with his business consultant, Candace Pruett in Anne Arundel County.

During the one-on-one meetings, Candace and Robert discussed marketing strategies for his business such as various networking events, financial planning tools for the business, and social media marketing. As the business continued to grow, Candace also went over the steps for the business to hire their first employee.
Tjaden Design Associates currently employees 1 full time and 2 part time employees. The company is continuing to pursue contracts and other opportunities.
