CBS Baltimore Reports AAEDC, County Executive Launch Grant for Tropical Storm Ida Recovery

October 26, 2021

CBS Baltimore reported that County Executive Steuart Pittman and AAEDC launched the Disaster Recovery Micro Grant Program (DRMGP) on October 26 in the following article:

Anne Arundel County Offers Micro Grants Of Up To $5K To Businesses Impacted By Ida

It reported that impacted companies can apply for grants of up to $5,000 to offset the cost of damages caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida or the disruption to business hours from the storm, and included the following quote from County Executive Pittman:

“We are extremely thankful that the tornado did not lead to any loss of life or injuries, but many of our businesses and residents are still feeling the effects.”

The article also noted that, while FEMA denied a request from the Hogan administration for a federal disaster declaration, saying state and local governments should have the capability to handle the damage, Gov. Larry Hogan announced $4 million in relief funding and the U.S. Small Business Administration made available low-interest loans for impacted homeowners, businesses and nonprofits.

Funded with $25,000 from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank., the DRMPG seeks to help Anne Arundel County businesses recover from damage and pause in operations caused by Tropical Storm Ida in September. Grants of up to $5,000 may be used to cover legitimate business expenses including physical property repairs, replacement of business equipment, replacement of inventory, lease/rental support, vendor bill support, or moving expenses support.
