Glen Burnie Town Center Mural RFQ

Public Art Mural Opportunity

The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) that will identify an artist (or artist team) with experience in the design and implementation of public art murals for a mural located at Rotary Park in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Each artist (or team) will receive a $1,000 stipend for their work, and the artist with the final selected design will receive an all-inclusive budget of $29,000 for this project. The RFQ is open to all Maryland residents, but preference will be given to Anne Arundel County artists. Initial proposals are due by Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 5:00PM EST.

Eligibility, Requirements & Selection Process

  • Artists/teams from the state of Maryland are eligible to respond to this RFQ; preference will be given to Anne Arundel County residents.
  • Applicants should submit biographical information, qualifications, and work samples through AAEDC’s Submittable platform.
  • All applicants will be informed in writing of the decision regarding their submissions.
  • Three finalists will be selected, and each will be paid a stipend of $1,000 to develop a concept proposal.
  • Finalists will be required to attend a meeting during the third week of February 2024 to present their proposals and respond to questions from the committee.
  • The committee will select the finalist from the three proposals by a majority vote after the meeting. All semi-finalists will be informed in writing of the decision regarding their proposal.
  • The artist with the final selected design will receive an all-inclusive budget of $29,000 for this project, and AAEDC will coordinate with the artist to schedule the installation during April/May 2025.

The schedule for this RFQ is as follows:

  • November 22, 2024: RFQ Applications Open
  • January 14, 2025, 5:00PM EST: Initial Proposals Due
  • January 28, 2025: Finalists Announced & Stipends Paid
  • February 14, 2025: Revised Proposals Due
  • Date TBD: Artists Present Proposals to Committee
  • February 28, 2025: Selected Project Announced
  • April/May 2025: Installation of Mural
