Agriculture remains a top industry in Maryland with 381 farms totaling 28,111 acres in Anne Arundel County alone. Anne Arundel County has resources in place to support our county farmers and agricultural producers and meet the needs of the agricultural business community. If you’re looking to implement agricultural practices, start a new business, or need assistance navigating state, county and federal regulations, the AAEDC Agricultural Business Development team can help. Review the agriculture programs available to farms in our county and check out the harvest guides and special events designed to promote awareness and educate county citizens on the importance of agriculture.
Agricultural Scrap Tire Program – This program allows farms to dispose of agricultural tires used in farming which is otherwise prohibited.
Farm Equipment Rental Program – Businesses can rent from a variety of farm equipment at a reasonable cost. Businesses must be located in one of the five southern Maryland counties (Anne Arundel, Calvert, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Charles).
Agricultural Business Improvement Grant (ABIG) – Designed to help farm-based businesses in Anne Arundel County expand operations, the ABIG grant program provides up to $10,000 with a one-to-one match.
Other agricultural initiatives that AAEDC supports include:
Arundel Grown – This campaign promotes local food sourcing by connecting Anne Arundel County farmers and producers, and their products, to consumers.
Anne Arundel County’s Agricultural and Woodland Preservation Program (AWPP) – This program offers financial support for property owners who want to keep their land in working farms and forests, through Agricultural Conservation Easements and/or Tax District Agreements.
