Make a Difference . . . Mentor an Intern!

Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) and the Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) are partnering with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools to promote this important internship program.  The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Internship Program is designed for high school seniors enrolled in the STEM magnet programs at North County and South River High Schools.  These highly motivated, advanced students want the chance to:

  • Participate in the daily work of professionals
  • Experience the full spectrum of expectations, job skills, and opportunities in the workplace
  • Gain a better understanding of the jobs available to apply a STEM education

The internships are not paid positions.  Student interns benefit by receiving one course credit and invaluable exposure to on-the-job experiences.  Companies benefit from the array of skills these interns have learned through the STEM program.  The benefit to Anne Arundel County is even greater – a future workforce that can propel economic growth.

Students awaiting internship opportunities with companies like yours have experience working in teams, analyzing data, solving real world problems, writing white papers, and making short presentations.  Their course background includes Calculus, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, International Studies, Human Geography, Statistics, and Art and Design.  The internship’s online process is easy to set up and is guided by school counselors who work with both companies and students to ensure a successful and rewarding experience.

To set up an internship or for more information about the program, please call Deborah Lesko or Robin Harrington, Anne Arundel Public Schools, at
