Annapolis, MD - Four Rivers: The Heritage Area of Annapolis, London Town & South County is pleased to announce that the next South County Sunday on September 25th will feature Farms and Harvests. South County Sundays feature a variety of family-friendly activities at several heritage-related sites in southern Anne Arundel County on one Sunday afternoon per month from April through October.
 
September's South County Sunday coincides with Market Days at Historic London Town & Gardens on the South River in Edgewater. London Town begins its Market Days weekend with a plant sale that includes unusual trees and shrubs, seasonal plants, heirloom pumpkins and garden pottery on Saturday morning, September 24 and concludes with a 4 p.m. "Concert for Every Season" with Them Eastport Oyster Boys ($5/person) on Sunday, September 25. A traditional English-style tea ($30/person) is featured on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., reservations required. Check www.historiclondontown.com for details.
 
Galesville's Heritage Museum at 988 Main Street will feature farm and tobacco displays, wagon tours of the village, a pie baking contest, and an ice cream social to end the day. West River Boat Tours run today at 1, 2:30 and 4 p.m.; purchase tickets at museum, $10 adults, $5 children. Visitors will also be able to see Annapolis Maritime Museum's historic Hooper Island draketail workboat Peg Wallace and talk with her captain that afternoon at the Galesville pier on the West River waterfront, a short walk from the Museum. In addition, the South Anne Arundel Lions Club hosts a craft fair from 10-3 p.m. at Galesville's Carrie Weedon Science Center (Saturday & Sunday).
 
Obligation, a mid 18th century site on Route 2 in Harwood, will be open from 1- 5 p.m. on September 25th and will feature riding and compost demonstrations, 4H Club and tack displays. Take advantage of this unusual opportunity to visit a private historic South County horse farm! 
 
Knightongale Farm, at the intersection of Routes 2 and 424 will be open from 10-5 with seasonal children's activities, including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm animals, and hay and pony rides. For more information, call 443-871-1073.
 
Shady Side's Captain Salem Avery House will be open and features a photographic exhibit featuring a wide range of cameras ranging in age from 1880 to the present, as well as tours of this 19th century waterman's waterfront home.
 
Discovery Village in Shady Side, is also open on September 25 from 1-5 p.m and features a permanent Marion E. Warren photo exhibit and the South County Gallery, host to a new exhibit by local artists Beryle English and Christopher Senesi, picnic tables, and a launch area for kayaks and canoes.
