WESTFIELD ANNAPOLIS FARMERS’ MARKET TO OPEN
ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 28, 2009) - - - The Westfield Annapolis Farmers’ Market will open on Sunday, May 2nd from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. The market is located in the Westfield Annapolis Mall parking lot next to Sears Automotive. The market will remain open every Sunday until October 31st.
“Westfield Annapolis is the perfect location for Anne Arundel County citizens to access locally grown produce,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold. “Local chefs are also finding the county markets an excellent source of fresh quality ingredients to use in their recipes.” A survey conducted by the National Restaurant Association named using locally grown produce the Number 1 emerging restaurant trend.
Dishing Up Maryland, a pictoral guide by Lucie L. Snodgrass, about eating locally and seasonally. The book features 150 Maryland recipes, hundreds of photographs and 35 profiles of farmers, fishers, and restaurants that are making great food in Maryland. Customers can purchase this book at the Westfield Annapolis Farmers Market, a portion of the proceeds will go to support the market.

The Westfield Annapolis Farmers’ Market is the second market to open this spring in Anne Arundel County. The market will offer beef, pork, chicken, eggs, milk, chocolate milk, yogurt, soaps, baked goods, jams, herbs and herbal products, early season bedding plants, potted plants, hanging baskets, spring vegetables. County Farmers Markets are producer only markets, meaning you will only find locally grown seasonal produce, and other agricultural products made by specialty vendors. As the season progresses a much wider variety of fruits and vegetables will be available to consumers.
