AAWDC HIRES SALLIE HAYS-SARELAS AS DIRECTOR OF BUSIENSS SERVICES
MILLERSVILLE, MD (June 11, 2010) - - - Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC), www.aawdc.org welcomes Sallie Hays-Sarelas as Director of Business Services. Ms. Hays-Sarelas will focus on outreach to Anne Arundel County businesses, providing innovative solutions to address their workforce needs. In addition, she will coordinate workforce development activities with the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation to attract new and expanding businesses and retain existing businesses in the county.
Ms. Hays-Sarelas has an extensive background in workforce and business development in both the private and public sectors. She directed industry initiatives for the Maryland Governor’s Workforce Investment Board (GWIB) and managed Corporate Communications for the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Hays-Sarelas currently serves as a business and workforce advisor on a variety of committees and task forces throughout Maryland. She comments, “I am delighted to be a part of the team as federal agencies and private companies move to Anne Arundel County to support growth industries, as well as Ft. Meade, NSA, and the new cyber commands.” Ms. Hays-Sarelas is a graduate of Old Dominion University, with a degree in business administration.

Murray remarks, “Ms. Hayes-Sarelas’ addition is key to AAWDC’s ability to carry out its mission of providing short-term and long-term solutions to help Anne Arundel County businesses grow and train their workforce.” AAWDC operates seven One-Stop Career Centers throughout the county that offer job seeker services and a variety of workforce solutions customized recruitment assistance, job postings, business retention, training funds for incumbent workers, and workforce transportation solutions.
