DJAMSHIDI TO SPEAK AT C2ER 50TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE
ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 20, 2010) - - - Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC) Executive Director Sarah Djamshidi will be part of a panel presentation on Maryland’s cyber security industry during the Annual Conference of the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), May 18-21 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. http://c2er.org/conference.asp . Cyber security, Homeland and National Security and Cloud Computing are the focus areas for business acceleration at the CIC.
“Today, most cyber work is manual and preformed by individuals,” said Djamshidi. “Since there is a significant shortage of qualified cyber experts, the task of protecting our nation becomes a daunting one. One consistent theme is that the cyber defenses commonly used today are simply not effective against most forms of advanced cyber attacks. That is why, here at the CIC, we focus on fostering innovation and the role of private sector and small businesses developing innovative tools and solutions,” Djamshidi continued.”
“The CIC provides a valuable service to Anne Arundel County as a business accelerator for companies on the cutting edge of National, Cyber, and Homeland Security technology,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold.
C2ER is celebrating 50 years of service to the field of community and economic research. The organization has been at the forefront of developing expertise for policy leaders and practitioners on how to understand the economic trends affecting their communities. The Annual Conference draws an audience of over 200 practitioners and leaders from state and local economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, utilities, workforce development groups, regional planning organizations, applied academic research centers, and federal agencies.
