NEW CYBER INTELLIGENCE AND SATELLITE OPERATIONS CENTER OPENS IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 18, 2011) - - - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), today opened a 36,000 square foot, state-of-the-art technology center at the Baltimore Commons Business Park in Hanover, Maryland. The new facility will house the company’s Cyber Intelligence Center and its Art of Exploitation University, the managed services operations center, east coast lab and data center.
“The Art of Exploitation University has the capacity to serve an estimated 4,000 commercial and government attendees each year with hands-on and instructor-led training in the arts of computer exploitation and defense, cryptology, penetration testing, reverse engineering, and information assurance,” said Maurice B. Tosé, TCS chairman and CEO. “Anne Arundel County is an ideal location to serve our customers and support Maryland’s goal to be the national epicenter for cybersecurity.”
“This new Cyber Intelligence Center will be an asset to Anne Arundel County and to the high caliber cybersecurity defenders that work within the Federal government,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold. “I congratulate Maurice Tosé on the important work that will take place at the new facility.”
The Center’s curriculum has been in existence for the past five years via a training center located in Baltimore, MD and a mobile lab. Approximately 1,700 individuals involved in computer network security, information assurance, network defense, penetration testing, forensics analysis, and red teaming have taken courses. The mobile lab will remain an option to government organizations that require training onsite or remote access to training for smaller groups of fewer than twelve students. The University will not only provide for expanded government enrollment but will offer commercial organizations the opportunity to attend the University and participate in courses and associated programs.
“A constellation of cybersecurity assets place Maryland at the heart of the nation’s efforts to protect our digital infrastructure,” said Christian S. Johansson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. “Through the Cyber Intelligence Center and Art of Exploitation University, TeleCommunication Systems will help to train the next generation of cyber warriors for the many federal agencies and technology companies engaged in cybersecurity activities in Maryland. We’re pleased to count TeleCommunication Systems among CyberMaryland’s assets.”
“TCS is a highly successful communications technology company headquartered in Anne Arundel County since 1987,” said Robert Hannon, president and CEO of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation. “The Cyber Intelligence Center is TCS’s third location in Anne Arundel County and is a testament to CEO Maurice Tosé’s entrepreneurial ability to recognize and act upon this important market demand.”
