ANNE ARUNDEL ECONOMIC DEVLEOPMENT CORPORATION ANNOUNCES STAFF APPOINTMENTS
ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 17, 2007) - - - Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) has announced the appointment of Kirkland J. Murray and the promotion of Owen Meeks as Business Development Directors.
In their positions as Business Development Directors, both Murray and Meeks will focus on attracting new business to Anne Arundel County while helping existing County companies stay successful and grow. They will work with Sarah Boone, AAEDC Vice President of Real Estate Development, to provide location, expansion, or relocation services and will act as liaisons for companies as they navigate the County permitting and planning and zoning process.
Kirkland Murray and Owen Meeks are dedicated economic development professionals, said Robert Hannon, AAEDC President and CEO. Their skills will be put to good use as we continue to attract world class companies to Anne Arundel County.
Previously, Mr. Murray held positions at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED), most recently, as the Director, Capital Region. During his four-year tenure at DBED, Murray developed successful business retention and outreach programs, led site selection redevelopment projects, and worked on state and local BRAC related economic development issues.
Mr. Meeks has been with AAEDC since 2000, most recently serving as Chief Information Officer. During this time, Mr. Meeks managed information technology for the AAEDC office as well as for the Chesapeake Innovation Center, Anne Arundel Countys business incubator. His responsibilities included strategic IT planning, implementation, and oversight. His new position at AAEDC will allow Mr. Meeks the opportunity to use skills acquired while earning a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Maryland College Park earlier this year.
The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) mission is to serve business needs and increase Anne Arundel Countys economic base through job growth and business investment. For a complete list of services provided by AAEDC, visit the web site at www.aaedc.org or call 410-222-7410.
