Funding is critical for every business and there are several financing and tax credit programs available.
Anne Arundel County Loan and Tax Credit Programs
Arundel Business Loan (ABL) Fund: ABL loans can assist county small business with financing of up to $300,000. Most loans are guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Arundel Community Reinvestment (ACR) Fund: The ACR Fund is designed to spur economic activity, investment and improvement in Anne Arundel County. Eligible areas include the Anne Arundel County’s 16 Commercial Revitalization Districts.
The ACR offers loans up to $50,000 to be repaid over three to seven years at zero percent interest. Eligible improvements include renovation and upgrades to building exteriors and site improvements, including landscaping. If exterior improvements exceed $30,000, the applicant may include up to $20,000 in interior improvements. In addition to financial assistance, the program includes professional architectural services provided by a full service architectural firm with experience in commercial revitalization.
The VOLT Fund Loan Program: Businesses in Maryland may qualify for a loan of between $25,000 to $500,000 for expenses such as business and commercial real estate acquisition and expansion, lease-hold improvements, equipment and vehicle purchase, and working capital.
The Arundel Micro Loan Fund (AMF): Microloans range from $5,000 to $35,000 at a fixed rate of 6.50% with a one percent loan fee and a closing fee of $250. There are no prepayment penalties and the loan term cannot exceed five years. Additional funds may be added to the project by other AAEDC programs such as the Arundel Community Reinvestment Fund (ACR), the VOLT Fund and the Arundel Business Loan Fund (ABL).

Job Creation Tax Credit Program
Companies locating to Anne Arundel County are eligible for a Job Creation Tax Credit offered to newly locating or expanding companies in the State of Maryland. The Company could be eligible for a Job Creation Tax Credit if it establishes or expands a Maryland business facility that is primarily engaged in warehousing and distribution and located within a Priority Funding Area as defined by the Job Creation Tax Credit statute. The credit granted will be the lesser of $1000 or 2.5% of a year's wages for each new employee in a qualified position. Assuming 80 qualified positions are created within a 2-year period, we estimate that the job creation tax credit would be $80,000.
